A Buddha bowl is a vegetarian / vegan meal, served on a single bowl or high-rimmed plate, which consists of small portions of several foods, served cold. These may include whole grains such as quinoa or brown rice, plant proteins such as chickpeas or tofu, and vegetables. The portions are not mixed on the plate or in the bowl, but arranged in an “artful” way.
Typically you start off with a grain, add some vegetables, some form of protein, and a dressing of your choice. I typically add some seeds, fermented or pickled vegetables, and some sprouts if I have them in the fridge. Essentially, it’s a colourful bowl of goodness using whatever you have in the kitchen. It’s a great way to use up produce and to have a healthy meal.
