Matcha is finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves. It is special in two aspects of farming and processing: the green tea plants for matcha are shade-grown for three to four weeks before harvest, and the stems and veins are removed during processing.

For this smoothie bowl, simply add frozen bananas and frozen mixed berries to a blender and blend on low (this is key!). Then add a little (not too much!) non-dairy milk of choice – I like coconut and almond – and a tablespoon of açaí powder. Blend some more on low, scraping down the sides until you have SOFT SERVE! The best part about smoothie bowls is the toppings. I added a kiwi cut into slices, some pieces of frozen mango, some nuts, coconut slices and some flax and chia seeds with apple and cinnamon.
